WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? WHAT DID YOU JUST RECEIVE?

Just lost one of our babies this morning. Super sad. We were calling her Zelda because she always seemed to be in distress. She was one of two that had pasty but when we got her, and she looked like a runt. Our only true "blue" cochin. The rest of the babies look good, so far. Sorry that we had to lose even one!

I'm so sorry for your loss. I am sure you tried to cure the Pasty Butt before it was a problem but sometimes it wins. I had to clean over 70% of my chicks I received on Wednesday for Pasty Butt this morning. It was a hole morning of cleaning little butts! Reminds me of parenthood! Luckily they are seem to be doing very well. Try to give them some Gerber Baby Oatmeal (it's ground super fine) and some Egg Yolks (no whites) to energize them and get them thru!

Lol, because I took that photo not long after I changed bedding! It's speckled up now, so I've added a few more paper towels on top under their light.
Try some pine shavings on top of your base layer...chicks love to 'scratch' in it and keeps their flooring surprisingly dry. I sprinkle a new layer every day or so until it reaches the point where I have to scoop it all out and start over.

I ordered 8 baby chicks from mypetchicken last Nov, and they arrived as scheduled April 9. I have one each of barred rock, easter egger, golden laced wyandotte (at least that is what we think she is), buff silkie bantam, buff brahma bantam, mottled cochin bantam, blue orpington (might also not be what she is as she isn't blue at all anywhere, more black than anything but it happens they say) and a mystery chick which some are saying is a white sultan. No matter what they are, they are healthy, chirpy, eating, drinking, pooping, and warm. They are loved. :)

Unfortunately had to clean up more than half my chicks today with poop butts. About 18 chicks out of 25. Ouch. They all arrived really well and clean from Cackle but this is day 7 and all of sudden they developed bad butts. Their clean now and should be okay, chirping and happy as before.

I ordered mine from Back yard chickens I think.. I should have around 10 different breeds
I ordered 2 light bramah, 1 giant black jersey, buckeye, easter egger, and then ordered
potluck of 5 brown egg layers(3 different breeds at least) and 5 rare breed potluch (3 different breeds at least)
Then I picked up 2 buff orphingtons and a rhode island red.

One died so far. :(

NOT SURE WHAT IS WHAT AT THIS POINT IT IS TRICKY.. ANY SUGGESTIONS.

It is so warm here in Sparks Nevada that I had to open a window so the brooder wouldn't get too hot. The chicks are doing fine, Had to clean a couple of butts this afternoon no biggie, I am glad it is warm. I can put them outside when they hit four weeks. I love watching them though, they are hilarious. Right now it is 79 degrees outside. I feel kind of silly having the heat lamp on but it isn't 79 at night, so I keep it on. They were all chasing 1 lone fly today. it was like a wave of baby chicks.... so funny. I hope they don't get too stressed being in the kitchen. Noisy.
