WHAT ARE YOUR CKN FIRST-AID KIT *MUST HAVES*???

In my first aid kit I don't have much sadly, but I haven't needed much either.... So that's good too.

Wazine
Tylan 50
Needles
Syringes
Alcohol Preps
Coflex
Tweezers
Scissors
Vet RX
A dosage chart on meds
Powdered Electrolites
Extra batteries for the hygrometer and thermometer
wafer for incubator
Powdered Antibiotic wator soluable (don't remember name)
Chick Dispatcher (plier looking things)
Leg bands

I guess its not quite all first aid. I put it all in a clear tote with a handle and take it with me when I'm out with the girls and i keep it next to the incubators and brooders

Edited to include Tylan 50 not Tylan 200

*Hey, Sammi! I saw you mentioned Nystatin-- that's for yeast, like wild birds often get, yes?? Is that also common in ckns? Same symtoms? Thought it was only availble by Rx? Kids have brought me birds w/ yeast a couple times.

*Wow, MBL- dosage chart for ckns is a GREAT idea. . . Don't have to try to remember it all, or figure it out in a crisis. I really like that one!!

Nystatin is for treating yeast infections. Chickens can get it..especially in the crop, and often if they get canker (treated with Flagyl)..(sour crop)
yes Nystatin is an RX, but is also sold as Nilstat..
can be found on line at pigeon suppliers, sometimes at pet and aquarium shops.

I got the chart from the chicken doctor when I ordered the vetrx and tylan. I'd be happy to share it with whomever wants it.

*AND you have a REAL chicken vet who even lets you order stuff?? I'm too jealous for words right at this moment! O.k. better. . . I HAVE NOT been able to find a single "chicken-friendly" vet so far in my area. No surprise when the area isn't friendly to chickens I guess tho.

d.k., you can do a google search for an avian vet near you in your state. I didn't think we had one anywhere close by, and located one 40 miles away.
Just a thought?
