What are your five favorite breeds and why

It's a thread that will always be fun...everyone can relate!
Your signature includes budgies... do you have some? I had some as a teenager and had a blast with them. I always hoped to get an English Budgie someday.
I currently have 4 budgies. I used to breed a few years ago. Now I just keep a few around because I enjoy their chattering all day. :)

Wow, almost a year later! Looking at my list, I don't think it's changed at all, other than a bit of rearrangement. I'd only had my OEGBs for a couple weeks then, but now it's been a year and I just adore them. :love So they probably have pushed up into my 2nd spot after my Dorkings.
I want to get to know some Dorkings. They sound like a chicken I would love! The only thing I don't like about the OEGBs so far is the dubbing. Why? I don't get it.

Yes their noises are wonderful!! Do you keep them outside in an aviary? I'm afraid about weather...but I imagine you have much more serious weather than I do! I also have heard of many former pet budgies that now live in wild flocks across the world. They must be very tough!

:highfive: Me too!!! I have an American Buff pair that I raised. I just love them. What variety did you get?
I always thought geese were mean things, and now I just sing the song from Jurassic Park in my head (sometimes out loud) whenever I see them walking about.

I have a trio of American buff. They are all supposed to be females. The gander was DOA. They are the goofiest birds. All their noise and ruckus. They definitely let you know they are there.

I have known some nice geese but the biggest bird surprise to me was getting to know turkeys. They LOVED petting and cuddling. I was sold! Really sweet birds.

I put them out in a large cage in my garden/chick raising shed in the warmer months which I move outside during the day, and I move them back in the shed at night for protection. They stay in the house for the rest of the year.

Neat! Aren't they just the best? They crack me up non stop.
Here is Penelope being admired by the peasants.

I'd like to try turkeys sometime. They do seem like really sweet birds. Maybe when I have more property. I have a seasonal creek that floods a lot of the lower field in winter, which makes it perfect for waterfowl, but not the best for critters that need dry land.
