I was just wondering what books people on this forum are currently reading.
Do you like the book so far?
What is it about? Would you recommend it?
What genre is it? ( exp: horror, romance, sci-fi, fiction, non-fiction...)

Im reading something that is similar to the Twilight series that I won at a raffle at school. Decided to give it a try. So far its ok. Thought I would go relax on the porch a bit and read a few chapters. Its called Night World by L.J Smith.

I am reading The Host from Stephanie Meyer (twilight). I would recommend it, I am almost done. If you like si-fi romance (twilight) kind of stuff then you will like it. It is not as geared toward young ppl as twilight was. very good book can't wait to get time to finish.

Ps I almost finished another book 2 weeks ago but couldn't stomach it any more. The Shack. my sister had lots of friends recommend it. So I got it from the library and read about 1/2 - 2/3. I have never started a book and read that far through and not finished. It doesn't come highly recommended from me... preachy and silly.

edited to add the warning...

consdrs- I have read that book! It was very good. I had to return it before I was through reading it. Really wish I could have finished it.
I also rented The Shack-also never finished it. Im not really into the religious genre of books...it was very thought provoking though.

rancher hicks- lol. I have never heard of that book!
Sometimes...I read some old books that I find in my closet from when I was young to help go to sleep if Im having trouble falling asleep.

Least it works!

I am reading Rainbow's End by Vernor Vinge. It's science fiction, about a high school kid and an old guy recovering from Alzheimers in a world where reality and virtual reality lines blur. Don't like your town? Impose a world of castles and dragons over it.

I haven't gotten into it very far so I really don't know what the main arc is about. But Vinge is an excellent writer.

At the moment, Im reading a book called, Tell Me Where It Hurts by Nick Trout. Its about a day in the life of an animal surgeon. He discusses different animals he has dealt with and how his job works. I've gotten about half way through it and I love it. I would definitely recommend it as a good read. Since Im going to school to be a Veterinarian, it is really helpful to be able to read about what other vets go through. He's had some very interesting experiences! Check it out folks.

I have a half-hour commute to work, so I tend to listen to my books rather than read them.

I'm currently listening to two books; Spin by Robert Wilson (sci-fi), and Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl (sort of a bio).

That sounds like something I would read , when I was younger I read some of james harriots books , grate and small ect.

Right now Im reading Lilan jackson brauns book The cat who robbed a bank, its like 20th or something in the series which she started in like the late 60s early 70s. I like them there mystery but they have animals in them which I love and they have nice simple uncompcated story lines, I mean dont get me wrong Ill read large 1000 page plus books with so many twists and turns you find youre self upside down and back wards but some times its nice to have a nice clean easy FUN read
