that is true my dog is about 90 lbs and he only eats about 4 cups of food a day. He eats 2 in the morning and 2 at dinner time. It is not because we starve him, but because there is always food still in his bowl. He rarely get any treats also he is very picky. We are always getting compliments on how shiny his coat is and how healthy he looks(when he is clean that is). A large bag of taste of the wild lasts almost a month for us.

We first started feeding ours Eagle Pack as suggested by a pet store employee, but once we went to puppy training classes and talked to the instructor she told us what to look for in a dog food, never a brand name. We then looked around the pet stores looking at ingredients and found Taste of the Wild we did not buy it based on word of mouth, but by the ingredients.

We use Canidae ALS. We have different ages of dogs, all extra large size. All of them have thrived on it, and the price works out to be about a dollar/lb. We buy the 44lb bag.

Kyla has a very difficult time with food. Her breeder recommended raw diet, which is very expensive, but we gave it a try. Kyla loved it, but always had the runs, so I started putting her on expensive, meat based, no additives type dry foods, but she wouldn't eat those as well and still had the runs and would vomit frequently. For over a year, we tried just about every food out there to try to find one that 1) she would eat and 2) wouldn't make her sick. I researched each one heavily, believing all of the hype about no gluten, no corn, no meat byproduct, etc, etc.

I finally gave up and one day bought a big ol' bag of Iams large breed formula simply because it was there and it was cheaper than everything we'd been trying and if she couldn't eat the "healthy" stuff it really didn't matter what was in it. (Not that I'm saying that Iams isn't healthy, nor am I trying to start the "healthy" dog food debate).

She eats it and it doesn't make her sick. She's now a happy, healthy dog and I happily feed her Iams.

On a side note, the cats are happier on the Sam's Club branded cat chow than they've ever been on any expensive cat food. I love it that my pets have cheap tastes like mine!! <3

After doing some research and discovering that Iams (What I used to feed)and some of the major brands are not as good as I had thought, I switched to Taste of the Wild. More expensive, but I no longer have to add fish oil to their food for shiny coats. They are doing very well on it.

I feed Duralife Hi Protein, and it ranks 4 out of 6 which pleased me. Would love to be able to afford the really good "pure" stuff, and have debated about getting one bag of it and mixing it with the Duralife. Anyone else try this?

We feed our cat and our dogs Royal Canin HP 23, its hypo allergenic.

We tried taste of the wild and it gave the dogs the shietz...
