Do Cornish cockerels take a little longer to develop waddles and combs? The BSLs that you helped me identify are around the same age and development of those features are much farther along.

Cornish are slow to develop. But mostly its the pattern. Males and females in Dark Cornish are totally different patterns.

Well the dark Cornish hasn't crowed or grown any waddles, but it's definitely trying to mate with my older hens.

Sorry - more questions! I don't really know why, but these barred birds just don't seem like roosters to me. Their combs are more pink than the bright red of the Cornish. I tried to get a good shot of their feathers but they are trying to keep cool in the south Texas heat so getting a good, clear photo was a little difficult today.

The bird in the top photo, I am just really thinking is a hen. The one in the bottom photo is the pointy tailed bird that I showed last week. Here is last week's photo again for comparison
