I got these amongst my Isa browns from Tractor Supply as day old "hatchery mixes".... obviously they are different breeds, still hoping they're both the "pullets" I thought they were! Any idea of what breed they could be? Also, the one looking really cute in the first picture is a bit of a punk. She "attacks me" despite being handled almost every day. I call it love pecks, but I think she intends differently ... honestly it seems like Roo behavior. The rest fly away and she puffs up and protects them. Anyway I can nip that behavior now? Thanks!!

Hi! I don't know for sure, but I think the first one looks like it could be a golden laced wyandotte... I got silver laced wyandottes from my tsc and they look like that, just silver where the gold is. Honestly though, the black one looks like some sort of a marans to me... do you have pictures of what they looked like when they were younger?

Where are you located? I am in PA and my tsc sources from Mount Healthy, Hoover's and Privett, so we can look on those websites and see what kind of chicks they have to compare them. I do think they are both girls though :)

They are still to young to tell and be accurate. The only thing you can do is watch how they stand a cockerel will stand up straight compared to a pullet and be more bold and stray further from the rest. As for being a butthead you can peck her/him back with a little stick or your finger to show who is boss. Just be mindful of the eyes.

First one is a Black Sexlink pullet. Second one your going to have to wait longer. Solid black birds are very difficult to determine breed until they are much older.
