What breed don't you appreciate?

Your husband sounds like a very intellegent guy..... Silkies are always broody just sitting in nest, clucking, or sitting on a rock trying to hatch it.......

Show girls sound like the worst of 2 worlds...... altho I can see the fun in trying to breed them initially. Are they as broody as silkies?

I don't like Show type silkies, too fluffly, too unnatural and unable to fend for itself if something happens like they getting out or whatever, same thing goes for Polish or any of the other big tophat breeds. I do like very poor quality silkies, with the crest that are more of a mohawk, and the amount of feathers that does not make them waddle like ducks. In short, I like the silkies that resemble a chicken. Amazing how flighty some of those silkies are that can see and walk normally, not like those over fluffed ones which are too blind and slow to do anything.

I love turkens, don't have any myself since I think they would freeze to death here with that crummy coop of mine in the winter.

I am not too fond of those misshapen Orpingtons or cochins, where is the chicken? I still like Australorps, they are not as bad as the Opringtons when it comes to fluff.

Feather legged varieties with too much feathering is a bit over the top for my taste too, poor birds can't walk properly..... brahmas are ok. Cochins, d'Uccles and such have too much footfeathering.

The big, tall games are more my thing like Malays or Saipans, or the pheasant like varieties like Sumatras Or Yokohamas. (Or a mix of both - Cubalayas)
Not so much the Cornish, they are already too heavy for me.

I am a picky person......

I don't like cochins, malays, shamos, javas, welsummers, and minorcas. Turkens are awesome, if my friend heard that remark about show quality silkies she would flip out showgirls combine the best of 2 worlds.

Turkens rock!! I have an adult trio and tons of babies!!! The adult roo is Elvis and the two hens are Pricilla and Lisa-Marie!! And the roo I am retaining is Turkenstein!!! And silkies are probably my favorite. I don't like Modern Games very much. Turken are very cold hardy FF4Ever. Not a big fan of most games. But showgirls are one of the best.

OMG someone doesn't like welsummers? I am CRUSHED. Off to cuddle up with the 25 welsummer chicks I have in the brooder!

For me it's Leghorns, they may be a good egg layer but that is where it ends.
