got him from a guy in Sanford NC but he said they were purebred straight from the hatchery but also my hen from the guy has had buff looking chicks

Can anyone tell me what breed you think this rooster is? I was told Amerucana over the phone but at pickup I got a unsure answer. Thanks!

He's an EE/mutt. I agree with Mare that he might have some game in him. If he has Ameraucana in him, it would be a very distant relative, and I doubt he even has the blue egg gene.
