What breed is he?

I want him to live a long happy life. I just want to know as much as I can because I've gotten pretty attached to him. He's been the greatest little dude. How would I be able to find out if there are any issues he could be more susceptible to or like.. what is his life expectancy (I don't even want to think about it...)?

Thank you for the info.
The main breeds that have serious health issues are females from heavy laying strains or Cornish X and similar meat strains. He isn't any of those! 😊 Best of luck!

And what about these guys? I call them key west birds lol because they just do what they want.

Thank you. And real quick.. what about these guys? I just call them the Key West birds because they do what they want and poop on everything.. lol. They joined us recently. Someone abandoned them by a construction site on this side road near by. They are tiny. Catching them was.. fun. Now they won't go away. Haha.

*I could only catch one for a close up.. but they are twinsies.

OEGB cockerels.

Are you in the Keys? There are a bunch of feral chickens there, and they do do what they want! Google "gypsy chickens" for resources and regulations on keeping/feeding them. I think I've personally run into them as far up as Big Pine.

Nope. I wish. I'm in Brevard. North of there. I'm used to my sweet lovey boy and then these 2 showed up.. haha. Is it normal for them to be as bonded as they are? I don't even know how old they are really. They are very independent..

Chickens are savvy and individual and so much smarter than humans give them credit for. They can definitely form serious bonds. Your fella's gorgeous!

Some well kept birds lived to 18 years..but, much less is likely. Depends on all sorts of stuff now..past nutrition, present parasite load, past injuries..best of luck..gorgeous guy!
