What breed is he?

Chickens are savvy and individual and so much smarter than humans give them credit for. They can definitely form serious bonds. Your fella's gorgeous!
For sure. Smarter than heck. And craftier than I ever thought possible. The boys will literally sync up throughout the day and do the _same exact thing_ either right beside one another or one facing the other.. it's so bizarre. They go on like that for a few seconds until they (what seems like) freak each other out.. lol then they go back to normal. Bruce kinda keeps distance between them and me though. He doesn't want them too close to his mama. So I'm glad they are so happy together. I had worried that they would start fighting a lot as they got older.. we will see.

And I meant to add about the craftiness.. Bruce is kind of a big lazy boy.. and will see them interacting with me or something and he will start tid-bitting some random leaf or something to get their attention and they can't help themselves.. they have just got to see what it it that he's got.. so they will mosey on over there and he's coaxing them as far away as possible the whole time so he can bully them where he thinks I'm not going to see him or catch him or something.. lol.. that's what it seems like. Because I have corrected him a lot about bullying.. so he sneak bullies more now than he outright does it in front of me. Lol

That's hilarious. He's really thinking that situation through.

Evidently, having no hens greatly lowers the chances of roosters doing more than practice sparring – though it's possible Bruce does see you as a hen, ha – as does making sure they have plenty of space and stuff to do.

They have free roam and toys and my boyfriend makes them swings and jungle gyms.. honestly they all prefer me sitting and digging them holes.. catching bait or lizards.. or raking.. ends up being _trying_ to rake because someone will scoot themselves on in my way looking for goodies. And Bruce stands his ground. He won't budge if he thinks there's a chance of getting a crawly prize.. we literally spend our lives with them. Bruce has been with us a long time. The boys a few months. Bruce sleeps with me. Either in the tent or in a hammock.. he may very well think he's more human rather than thinking I'm a hen now that I think about it.. lol.. the boys explore more and are a little more ballsy.. I would hate to ever imprison them or put a damper on them.. I don't mind if they choose to stay up our butts though. Things would be dreadful without them.

There's nothing like chicken energy! But poor roosters have a hard go of it. The majority never find a home where they can fit in. It's heartwarming to hear about your flock, especially Bruce, who was likely doomed before he found a place where he can be himself and be loved.

Take care down there in the storms.
