Don't take it personally when people say "poor quality"--that just means the bird is not a good candidate for showing or breeding purebred birds. Doesn't mean she's not pretty or a great bird or awesome layer or whatever else! In fact, I think she's very pretty indeed.

OP wasn't asking for whether the bird was show quality or not .. only if it was identifiable as a breed.

It's like telling someone their child is ugly .. then justifying it because the aren't beauty pagent material .. rude.

Okay, really, a couple minutes later and I get a serious attacking? All I meant was that if it is indeed a Cuckoo Marans, it just doesn't really look like one. And a mutt in no way is an offending word, far as I've always remembered. . . I'm sorry if I started up such a ruckus. . .

Highly doubt anyone cares if it goes to a show, that's completely irrelavant. . . I'm just saying, it's like calling an orange bird a Rhode Island Red - There's traits of a bird that don't matter if it is showable or not, it's just that those traits are what make a breed the breed.

Yes, but I never said that's a bad thing. I myself have mutts. I'll say that no, the whole "showbirds are terrible layers" thing is actually a myth, usually brought by hatchery-stock owners, but that doesn't mean mutts and production layers are bad.

I personally don't like the looks of Cuckoo Marans, and think Jeckle is very pretty. In fact, as said before, I don't think Jeckle is purebred. And again, I never said that's a bad thing.
