What breed is my hen?

Thank you all. I just spent a frantic half hour going through FAQ and postings on sour/extended crop. I'll check her first thing tomorrow morning but all day she drank, ate and ran around just fine. She's a busy, chatty girl - very social, runs between my two coops making visits and gettng into everyone's business! So I'd notice if she was "off".

Of course, if anything is off tomorrow morning than this is the first place you'll find me ... begging for help!

Does she have white earlobes. Looks like in the pic I can see faint white around the earlobe area. If so I'd say maybe a Black Leghorn cross maybe? huh

The floppy comb is a Leghorn trait, the willowish-yellow feet a cross breed trait, creamy-biege egg color is a whiteXbrown egg layer cross.

Maybe a Black LeghornxBlack Australorp?

Nope, red ears. I bought her from an Indian woman with a heavy accent who had a beautiful clean (immaculate!) coop and really nice chickens - bantams, exotics, etc. Sadly I picked out the five I liked but couldn't understand her well enough to ask the breeds - I know she hatched most of her own.

I was more upset about the impacted crop idea. Rushed out there this morning, Mammie bounded out of coop as soon as I opened the door - grabbed her, there is nothing in the crop (which is flat). Eating, drinking, and looking fine - but I'll be on guard. And I have someone who works at Whole Foods buying some Organic Apple Cider Vinegar for me - I'll add this to their water (plastic waterer). Yup, I read ALL the posts!

She is fluffy and sweet - and most likely some kind of plymouth rock/australorp/orpington cross breed. Whatever: Nice personality + good layer = great chicken!

Thanks for all your help. Laura
