Nope, red ears. I bought her from an Indian woman with a heavy accent who had a beautiful clean (immaculate!) coop and really nice chickens - bantams, exotics, etc. Sadly I picked out the five I liked but couldn't understand her well enough to ask the breeds - I know she hatched most of her own.
I was more upset about the impacted crop idea. Rushed out there this morning, Mammie bounded out of coop as soon as I opened the door - grabbed her, there is nothing in the crop (which is flat). Eating, drinking, and looking fine - but I'll be on guard. And I have someone who works at Whole Foods buying some Organic Apple Cider Vinegar for me - I'll add this to their water (plastic waterer). Yup, I read ALL the posts!
She is fluffy and sweet - and most likely some kind of plymouth rock/australorp/orpington cross breed. Whatever: Nice personality + good layer = great chicken!
Thanks for all your help. Laura
