unnamed (10).jpg unnamed (11).jpg unnamed (12).jpg This is my 9 week old puppy we got from the shelter, Finnley. They said that he was a terrier mix, and while his face looks like a terrier, he has rather large paws and long legs. Plus, at 9 weeks he already weighs 8 pounds, which is a lot more than a yorkshire terrier which we thought he looked like. The vet said he could be a medium sized dog, and she had seen doodles his size. We were thinking he could be a labradoodle/doodle yorkie mix, but aren't sure. What do you guys think?

He is a terrier mix. Looks like possibly a Schnauzer mix to me. I raised them a long time ago and had some black pups, he looks a lot like the more wire haired ones I had.

Judging by his coat, he's probably got some schnauzer and poodle mixed in with the terrier. Give him some time. Once he grows into those legs and feet, you'll get a better idea of what went into his make-up. Regardless, with a face like that, especially with those intelligent, expressive eyes, he's going to be an amazing dog! Enjoy him - and keep the pictures coming so we can watch him grow up, too!
What's his name?

I am 90% sure that his cross is:
Labradoodle/Schnauzer

To be even more exact:
Black Lab x Standard Poodle - Parent 1
Black Wirehaired Standard Schnauzer - Parent 2

He should be a medium sized dog, possibly on the larger side of medium.
He should be Hypoallergenic.

Wow! Thanks to you all! I was going to do one of those 80 dollar dna tests, so I might have to order one. Thanks so much for all of your suggestions! He doesn't seem to be shedding at all so I think he is hypoallergenic. I will for sure be posting more pictures!!!

Do you have a picture of the pups and/or what they look like now?
Wish I did. they are on my old pc that has crashed. I had miniature schnauzers and owned giant schnauzers for several years. The giants were also black. I never owned the standard schnauzers. I like the little more wire haired type, but most want the ones that have all the long soft furnishings that are hard to care for ( I had those too). Definitely good ratters.
