What breed is my rooster? (pics included)

His previous owner told me she thought it was frostbite due to her not having their coop insulated well enough during a negative temperature snow storm we had in our area a few months back. Although it seems to be only on one side of the comb. Here’s a better picture.

Do you mean the white? It looks more like dry skin to me, not uncommon with roosters and their large combs.

Neither of those breeds have crests. This rooster has a crest, so he must have one created parent.

Yes! It would be great news to know that she was wrong about the frostbite. I’ve only had him for almost two weeks and I was a little worried about the frostbite thing and if it would cause any damage. I’ll try figuring out how to treat it as dry skin and see if it gets better! Thank you!

I’m totally head over heels for him so even if he doesn’t produce that most efficient egg layers I will probably still keep him. I’m looking to add some Australorp hens to my flock now though!

One of the hens that came with him is supposed to be a silkie mix also and they actually had a chick together that she offered me so I took her. She should be 2 weeks old today. Here’s the hen and their chick!

Any updates? That hen is so beautiful! I wonder if they have any d'uccles because I see Silkie×D'uccle
