It is definitely a cockerel (young male).Cool. Do we still think it’s a boy? I’m hoping for a pullet. Too many roosters already.

Boo, hiss.It is definitely a cockerel (young male).
Thanks; that's good to know. Come Spring, I'm putting my "odds and ends" together into a mixed bantam flock, so maybe, if I see one ...The ones I've met have been docile, wonderful birds. Total snuggle bugs and the females made great mothers.
Is this your second account?Well we unfortunately lost the little red one, which really sucks but on the other hand, if it was going to be a rooster, one less rooster to worry about? We think 5/6 are roosters out of our possible rooster group.
The “Alaska” account is my moms account. We found about half the chickens missing from their pen, and found most of them hiding under a tarp in the corner of our garage. We didn’t find the little red one, at this point we’d be pretty surprised if she showed up.Is this your second account?
What happened to the little red one?

This is kind of an old thread. But my bantam RIR's were total sweety pies. They were my show birds so they were pretty tame and handled a lot, but I never had an issue from the beginning.Curiosity ... what sort of temperament do RIR bantams have? Every one of the standard rhodies I've "met" have fallen somewhere between "bossy/pushy" and "real stinker!"
