What Breed is this Dog?

Akita or Chow mix.

I was gonna chime in about the black tongue for chow mixes... my boy I got from the pound as a "shepard" mix.


He's got the coloring of a rot but his head and tail are similar to yours....his tongue is pink but the roof of his mouth has black/pink splotches...that you would not notice unless he was upside down panting....

tee hee...look how deep the snow is but look how chunky he is like your guy...like his big block head.

Doesn't shed???? wow, that must be nice...I just brushed my boy the other day and got so much hair it could have made a large pillow.

Your boy does resemble the OP dog in build alot! They are both very cute!!! I know what you mean about the hair though!! It seems I have been brushing my guy for months and it just keeps coming and coming!!! You can make sweaters for an entire city when they blow that undercoat!!! LOL

Says the kai kens get to 30-40 lbs? Is that all? Pics look like they could be bigger?

My dog tips the scales at 94 lbs although the vet said he's overweight by 20....eeps.

I thnk that we will list her as a Chow/Lab mix. She does not have any spots or black/blue on the tongue. Everything else seems to point toward a Chow/Lab mix. She is up for adoption. The owner was a girl that was in a car accident and is now in a coma. We run a dog rescue. Your help was greatly appreciated!!! Pepper is a great dog and we hope to find her a home soon.

She's beautiful. Right away, when I look at her face, she reminds me a little bit of a chow chow. I had one for years and I just loved him. The broadness of her face, and the intensity of the eyes give me that impression. Maybe mixed with a black lab.
