What breed of duck was my duckling?

Yes! I just brought home a pair of ducklings, they were a bit more grown up than my first, and they were very, very brown. I do not have any pictures yet, but I'll make sure to take some when I get back. They're temporarily residing in a rather large plastic container my balcony. We gave them a bowl of water with pieces of bread in it. I protested against the bread, but we didn't have much else to feed them yet. When I get back, I'll get them proper duckling feed and set up their home.
They sound lovely, and I am sure you will take very good care of them!

Thank you!

Unfortunately, my local pet store did not have any duckling feed, but it did have chick starter feed. It has 18% protein, which is hopefully enough, but it was medicated, and there were no unmedicated versions in store, so we'll resort to giving only a few servings at a time so they don't overdose. I do plan on supplementing their diet with mixed greens, vegetables, or whatever else I have available, so they can reach their nutritional intake while hopefully avoiding eating too much medication. I won't be home for a few hours however, so they'll have to subsist on the water and bread we had put until then.

Here's a picture of one of the duckies while we were at the farmers market: the one on the right.

The only reason we don’t feed our female ducks bread is because that, along with the water they drink and swim in, could add bacteria to the eggs we eat.

Here's a picture of my two new ducklings. They seem to be some variety of a runner duck, due to a more erect stance.
