Looks very much like a northern water snake to me! Search it on google images and see what you think

It's just likely looking for a place to snooze for the winter. Last fall I rescued a milk snake from a farmer friend's cellar and let him sleep in a covered acquarium for the winter in a corner of a cool room. I just put a container of water in the tank for him if he wanted to drink and when it got warm again I let him go in the woods near my house. Snakes in Mass that can hurt you are so rare they are almost as scarce as dinosaurs and in all my years of looking for the few venomous varieties we have I've never seen one. Snakes are good neighbors to have.

It's watersnake. When it comes to water snakes, round pupils in most of the US means non venomous. Most venomous snakes in the US are pit vipers which have slitted eyes. It is one of the few non venomous snakes in the US that have a fat body and tail, and can mimic a pit viper very well.

Place a hot water bottle on the floor by the bed. If you are lucky she will curl up on that rather than on your feet or,-------

When i was a kid, we had ball pythons. One night my parents forgot to latch one of the tererium (Spelling? I'm having issues with BYC's spell check today) lids before going to bed. One of the snakes, Rosie, got out. It was a chilly night, and he woke up to find Rosie curled up in the crook of his arm under the covers, nice and happy.
