I have a young black chick that I got from a friend of mine as an egg. When it hatched, I was surprised at the coloring, since I was positive that I was getting speckled sussex eggs. The other that hatched looks like an average speckled sussex chick, but this one is black. I am positive that its father is speckled sussex, but the mother must be a different breed. The chick doesn't have its full feathers yet, but is black, has a few white wing tips, and has little brown feathers all around its neck. I am completely stumped at what it might be due to the brown neck feathers, but I know the father is speckled sussex. Any ideas?
