What Can I Do With ALL These Apples??

I love those. But I don't normally use lemon juice, unless I am doing a ton at a time. Also plain is great and with honey. They don't last long around here, five pounds will be gone in a day or so.

yeah, I know

When I get a glut of apples I usually fill one or both sides of the sink with water lemon mix... Then the dehydrator runs on and on and on and on and on and on

Made monster batches of apple pie filling, canned it in batches designed for one pie each and gave them to neighbors as holiday presents.

I also made batches for myself (hot apple pie in december, mmmmm.)

I made applesauce and canned it.

I don't have a dehydrator

It's on my christmas list, but so is a steady job for DH.....

If I did, boy would I be chowing on apple chips!

Apple sauce or dried apples

Chickens also enjoy leftovers

Make a pie or two in the meantime

Most cooking apples keep quite well in the fridge. Our McIntosh and Northern Spys and Granny Smiths last into spring being stored in the fridge

Juice them and save the residue from that, freeze it and thaw it later for good chicken supplement in the winter. They love apple scraps in the winter time! Also, you can freeze or can the apple juice/cider and even make some into vinegar to use for the chicken's water or for your own salads.

Apple jelly....yum!

Or....just store them in a cool, dark place and eat one each day....to keep the doctor away.

It all sounds so good!

Last year I had a 55 gal garbage can of apples that were not fit for human consumption. I let the freeze outside, then just went out filled a bucket brought them in and thawed them as treats for the chickens in the dead of winter..

You beat me to it, that's how I deal with my abundance of apples-------I love my homemade apple chips, I've also used maple sugar on them. Now that's good snacking!

Apple butter.

Uses up a huge amount of apples and a little goes a long way. On toast with a shmear of cottage cheese, with peanut butter on a sandwich...served hot over ice cream....used instead of chutney with curry...
