What can we do about unanswered posts?

I pretty much spend my BYC time over on the Duck Forum, and sometimes I am just mortified to see a post that no one has responded to in hours or even a day or more.

I am especially embarrassed because on all but the most busy days of my life when I cannot be near a computer, I check the Duck Forum. And sometimes for some reason, I just miss one. I agree with the OP here - especially with new folks it really is meaningful when someone can respond.

So, hey, from a flawed human being here, yes, sometimes we drop the ball. Hope it continues to be a rare occurrence until and unless we figure out how to fix it.

I can't do the desktop version on my phone..it's too small.. so byc need to update there app and then these posts will get seen

I think it's to do with choosing the right place to post, I've noticed a lot of questions in the pages section where it's not possible to answer/comment, also people asking gender of chickens in the new members section would probably get more answers in the gender/breed section, I always go to new posts (how I found this one) but it only shows the most recent activity, if someone's asked a question and it's not been answered it won't stay up top very long. I totally get the frustration, I too have had posts go unanswered but if I ask on my local thread then it's usually replied to pretty quick.
Usually the first thing I do is Google, Google always leads right back here giving me pages and pages of the same question I want answers to, much quicker than waiting for someone to get online and answer if I'd started a new post.

I don't think I made any sense at all lol

The mobile website has a new posts button, you just have to click the Home button first to see it. It takes some getting used to. If you use an Android device then you can download my app and it has a permanent button for New Posts, Subscriptions, etc. at top.

Oh, I dunno, maybe there isn't one. I can add one to the Android app though. It is the same as the New Posts link, except it filters out anything that has a single reply.

Like I stated earlier, I prefer to click New Posts, and just scroll down and read anything with basically less than a page worth of replies. It's a matter of preference I'm sure, but if most of us only use the unanswered link, then many posts will just get one reply and then fall off the radar, so using the normal New Posts link is also important to engage users.
