I can see that being a blue x khaki. The blue gene was passed on and since you need two chocolate genes for it to show in a male he probably is only a carrier. The female would be carrying a single white gene so no white babies. Are you sure he’s a Blue Swede x Khaki cross? I don’t think he can be with that plumage.
If I had to guess just based on his appearance, I’d say all male ducklings will be mallard, and all female ducklings will be chocolate-mallard, so.. sex-linked ducklings? I don’t think there’s any chance of black ducklings.
Now I’m just confused. Is he blue dusky?I can see that being a blue x khaki. The blue gene was passed on and since you need two chocolate genes for it to show in a male he probably is only a carrier.
I'm not tossing in any dusky genes, as I don't understand those (yet). But the blue gene overrides the chocolate KC gene (you can see the blue in his head). Now I’m just confused. Is he blue dusky?
Wow, not sure how I never processed that blue head = blue geneI'm not tossing in any dusky genes, as I don't understand those (yet). But the blue gene overrides the chocolate KC gene (you can see the blue in his head).

Neither of these two would give black as it's dominant.
You're correct that any chocolate babies would be females, but there's also a possibility of blue and regular mallard-type in both male and female.![]()
You can do a search for it. Probably the easiest way.do you happen to have any pics of what they'd look like?
There are duck genetics calculators, that's what I use when I'm not sure.does anyone also know what id get from crossing him with a female fawn and white runner duck? i dont rlly know much abt genes rn, cant find much helpful info and im not good at comprehending it, just want to make pretty ducks and learn.
