Ah the mysteries of genetics that keep things so interesting. This is the breeding pen that produced mine.

Krodsorin, did you look at the pics of the of the Red Columbians that I posted? Don't you think it could be red columbian? I don't think it could be a pure buff either.

Im not sure, oh well the breeder is coming over next week, and having a look at them, he gave me the eggs for free, and any of the chooks i dont want he will buy off me.

I didnt know brahmas were that popular in AUS. She is more of a columbian pattern but a darker buff than normal with blue instead of black. If you breed her to a good buff brahma rooster you should get half blue buff brahmas. I wish we had more colors of brahmas here, I know some have been made but never went very far. Even a blue light brahma would be different. But we do have the nice laced brahmas that big medicine and Dan have made.

It looks like the white balance is off on those original pictures the OP posted. The comb in particular is waaaay too bright to be natural.

Do you mean Black Red Columbian? Because Just Red Columbian (with out the Black) is like the color of Rhode Island Reds...

Well, teh origonal photos are gone, but comparing htem to the various buff brahma photos on feathersite, http://www.feathersite.com/Poultry/CGA/Brahma/BRKBrahma.html, I do not see any way that they ar anything other than buffs with a few extraneous black feathers--indicative of poor plumage colouring, not indicative of a different variety entirely. The red columbians shown on feathersite are much, much darker.

I have buff brahmas and that is what those are.
