Okay, so as far as I know silkies should have a walnut comb. Mine have weird flat and wavy combs or small and bumpy ones. Currently I'm focused more on color and body type, but I'd like to get a clear idea on what to do with the combs.

I'll try to find some photos of my silkies combs. I can take new ones in a couple days.

What are these combs? Should I slowly try to breed it out?

I have 1 young cockerel I'm thinking about keeping. He is the blue-is one with the big red bumpy comb. Is that the closest I have to a walnut?

It looks like the typical walnut of a Silkie but it does have a crease which isn’t beautiful, but it shouldn’t be a priority. When you iron out other issues you can fix that. However, you should remove Pookie from the breeding program because he lacks the black skin that is a breed trait for Silkies.

Pookie does have black skin. His comb is just red which I know isn’t good, but I can breed it out later. You can see it on his feet in this photo. He's just very fluffy and so his legs aren't really visible.

Grey feet doesn’t necessarily mean he is fibromelanistic, it just means he has the dermal melanin gene.

See? Hotshot has white skin but grey shanks.

Does Pookie have black skin beneath his feathers?
