What did you do in the garden today?

Yesterday my garden gifted me with a handful of asparagus, and the woods behind my garden gifted me with 22 huge morel mushrooms.

I also found a Morel in the WOODS.:idunno
Ohhhhhhh this one is wood:hit

A sculptor does these on tree stumps where a tree is cut down. The tree cutters leave about 5 feet from ground for the artist.
Here is another one from previous year.

Unfortunately someone (vandals or thieves:mad:) cut it off.:hit
This is in a Public Forest Preserve.
BTW,,,, I have never ate morels, but heard they were tasty. Only way to get some is find them yourself...
There are none near me,,, :(

Boy... I’d be harvesting asparagus seeds and planting more in that wild patch you got.

Thunderstorms for days, the weeds are growing 3 times as fast as anything else. Ugh. Have placements for coral bells and hosta plants I bought, almost have the pot finished painting for my daughter's teacher, she (daughter) decided on a red madevilla bush to go in it, will be stunning in a blue pot. Got boring brown to paint my last big pot to put beans in.

Just waiting on a sunny day....

Same here. So much rain and the GLOOM! Ugh! We have barely seen the sun since NOVEMBER!
I have not been able to get my garden tilled up due to all the rain. The seeds I started on the first day of spring are quickly outgrowing their pots. I may actually skip the till this year and plant my vegetables in the ground as-is and just weed around them.
Hi Trish. Don't till the soil, it wakes up the weeds. Pull the weeds and just plant. Less work for you and fewer weeds.

OMG! I'm being treated to an amazing light show right now - the sun is actually shining through the clouds. I drove to the grocery store while I was waiting for the misty rain to clear up this morning and on the way back home I passed the Flea Market down the road. There were a couple of guys selling vegetable plants. What luck. I found really healthy Roma tomato plants to replace the ones drowning in my garden and I picked up some broccoli plants. I've never had much luck with broccoli on my previous property, but I was feeling lucky so I bought a pack. The price was amazing, $3 for a six pack of plants. So I spent $6 for both the tomatoes and broccoli. After lunch I was able to get the roof on the chicken run extension and I hauled 11 Homer buckets of muddy dirt to cover the HC. It still needs a few more buckets but I needed to rest and it was time for the chickens "dinner." After I took care of them I planted my pole beans and the broccoli plants. Wow, and the sun is still shining and it's like 65F right now. After all the rain I feel like I'm in an alternate universe right now. :ya

Nope found the cats had penetrated the little green coop so new deeper hardware cloth
will be placed along the perimeter buried 4 inches all around :he I was happy when we built it without a floor but placing 12 x 12 around the bottom is not enough to keep the cats out

My husband has been out in our woods at least three times a week trying to find Morels. He now thinks they don't grow in our area.

We went to the farmers market this morning and there was a guy selling plants. I wanted to get some tomatoes, because they were amazingly cheap, and looked so healthy, but hubby said no more.

I did buy some lavender. I have the hardest time keeping it alive, though, so we will see.
My son helped me plant some canteloupe seedlings. We have discovered a patch of ground on a little hill about 25 yards down the path from our house, on the slope that has amazing soil! Most of our soil is clay, so this was a great find! We planted the canteloupe, watermelon, and gourds. I put up a chicken wire fence around it to keep the deer out.
