What did you do in the garden today?

Just did some hoeing and raking in the garden. Not going to till per @Wee Farmer Sarah advice. I have a lot more to do but this aging body said ENOUGH! Strolled the woods briefly and found 8 more morels. I'm officially 'shroomed out!

Quiet night here but we did weed eat the chicken yard 1/4 of our land fenced and cross fenced leaving certain areas they can hide now time to sit back take it easy took all three of us we have 2 electric 1 gas unit we all worked it

I pinned up all three beds of my yardlong beans, planted 500 loquat seeds for starting, pulled the last of my sugar snaps to save for next year- not quite a pill bottle full of seeds. I cleared my last winter bed of greens and weeded. I'll be putting in my cucumber and pumpkin starts tomorrow, oh and got a pressure canner from Craigslist.

Long friggen night. 1.75 inch hail for two minutes.

pea to the 1.75 inch stuff for 72 MINUTES! my orchard is shredded. Garden was still empty. It wasn't wind driven THANK GOODNESS or siding would be toast. Roof on house and workshop is done. CRAP. But that's what insurance is for. But dammit.

All other roofs are steel.

Garden still empty.

Animals good but skittish.

Totally typical. Field Meteorologists's paradise. In the 5 years we have lived in this house there have been 3 tornadoes within 10 miles. One spin up thst took out a tree 300 yards down the road. 2arge hail storms. (We have to carry sep hail insurance) blizzards, ice storms floods . Straght line wind of 74mph happens at lesst 2x a year. Wild place.
Just hard on the pocket book this year.
