What did you do in the garden today?

2 of the Apple trees. Only thetop picture had some pruning done on it. I couldn’t reach the 2nd tree or the 3rd tree( not pictured).

I’m still new at this, but my friend who has a lot of apple tree experience told me that any branches pointing inward to center of tree should be removed. All branches should be pointing out to allow sun in. For peach trees, I watched a couple of YouTube videos and they advised peach trees be shaped similar to an umbrella. I hope this is helpful. Oh, one more thing: do not remove more than 1/4 of branches as this may stimulate root growth.

So I’m doing research on apple trees and how they’re not self pollinating. Does that mean I need two different type of apple trees planted close together (such as a granny smith apple tree 30ft from a gala apple tree) or will two apple trees work whether or not they’re the same kind (such as two gala apple trees 30ft apart)?

I have an orchard. Yes, you need two apples trees that bloom at the same time and will pollinate each other. NOT all apple trees will pollinate other trees. They have companion trees.
Meaning two granny smith trees will not pollinate each other.
Great chart.
