What did you do in the garden today?

Ok, got of my butt and planted 63 pots of tomatoes. 10 are for a friend. 51 for canning tomatoes, and so far, 2 cherry tomatoes. I'll probably do more cherries.

It was HOT in the green house. We're supposed to have warm (50s-60s) for the next week, and also some much needed rain. The lack of sunlight will let the green house cool off a bit.

I don't know what else I'm going to start up there. Some hot peppers, marigolds, maybe some sweet peppers. One or two melons. We'll see.

Planted onion seeds in starter cells. Never used seeds, so it will be an experience.

Planted tomatillo, and a few more tomato and pepper seeds. Everything looks good that has already sprouted.

Still combing through the one raised bed to remove morning glory runners. they are Such.A.Pain.!!

Hi, and where are you in Oklahoma? I’m East of Noble near Lake Thunderbird. Lots of pallets to be found around for free, and they usually don’t treat them with chemicals anymore if that might be an option. I’m doing mainly straw bales this year for my garden. Found some in McLoud for $5 each. Your greenhouse looks amazing! Also we have an Okie thread “OKIES in the BYC III.” Love to see you there too.

Between Prague and Stroud.. I could have all the pallets a heart desires but not a pallet person..

I really like them too! I bought a variety pack from Bluestone Perennials last year. I also bought some (same company) for my last house. They are great in a partial shade to shady spot!

Those are so lovely, just like you'd see in paintings. I miss ours from the old house. I repotted the sad sage I'd put in a much too small planter last year. It took some cutting to get the roots loosened up but it should be happy now. Still need to do the same for the mint plant, both will be in front of the chicken run. Tidied the greenhouse to make more room for additional seed starts and started the Italian Ice tomatoes, and miniature marigolds. And @WthrLady, that is a beautiful greenhouse.

We sold 2 processed frozen rabbits, one of the kids from the grow-out for a pet, and a dozen eggs today. We'd have sold another dozen eggs but they've been selling as quick as the girls lay them so I only had 10 eggs left. And since I had 9 eggs one day last week, my beautiful Glyness is officially the only hen not laying now at all. She laid first and early at about 20 weeks, stopped in late fall and hasn't started up again. She's going to force me to make a hard decision.

I'm 30 pages behind... not even attempting to catch up. We were on vacation the past week. Got back yesterday and I was relieved to see my brother did water the plants. He didn't water quite enough though and didn't know that the tomatoes in the sunroom were getting leggy. The San Marzanos were still inside under the grow lights. They look incredible. I moved things around and brought the other 3 trays of tomatoes inside under the grow lights too. I'm hoping that in a week they'll look similar to the San Marz. The leggyness is not the end of the world s long as I can stop it now. I'll just plant them a few inches deeper later.

Peppers are odd. They all were under the grow lights. One variety (the bands peppers I think) has grown twice as large as the others. Perhaps they just grow faster, or perhaps he water them well and not the others.

Our plumbago, Naupaka and Song of India take all of our abuse- we rarely water them and they're in a neglected sandy loam. I had a few other things planted there that survived only because I obsessed with their care but when I went in for surgery no one bothered to water or even spit on (lol no resentment there ) so I planted the Naupaka and Song of India after my recovery because they are virtually indestructible and I don't need to be pissy about the little things. Plus it made a bad neighbor disappear! The S of I can be used in floral arrangements too and propagates super easy. The chickens go in and under these all the time looking for lizards and to cool off. I can send you some Naupaka seeds and a cutting of the S of I if you want. I think I MAY still have your add if not I can PM you.

I bet all you gardeners are dying to get out your corona's and trim the dead leaves lol. Like I said, neglected.

View attachment 2598157We trim all for a mixed hedge but all get HUGE like small trees if planted as a specimen and all are fairly easy to trim, especially the Naupaka. Usually the Plumbago is peeking through on this hedge with it's blue flowers but DH just trimmed so not as pretty at this moment. Just let me know if you are interested and I'll pull a few seeds to dry.

@WthrLady you are forgetting “Needmore” road in Dayton.

when we lived in WA and would visit the Olympic peninsula we always laughed about “Kitchen Dick” road in/near Sequim, Wa.

You might have driven near the town with my favorite name: Humptulips, also on the Olympic peninsula.
