WTH??? What business is her backyard to them? Is it some fancy gated community?Sister just asked permission from the city to hoop one of her 8x20 beds. Her house, back yard.
They said no, it would be an eyesore.

WTF. Her grocery store a block away is bare bones empty. She's just trying to provide food security for her kids and prolong the season.
UN FRIGGEN REAL.
I'd tell them to pound sand. They can ticket me and we'd go to court. Their sense of what is attractive or not doesn't trump my right to feed my family.Sister just asked permission from the city to hoop one of her 8x20 beds. Her house, back yard.

I'm not sure. While I am trying again this year, I've not been successful at raising corn. It's either been raided by deer, raided by worms, or simply failed to thrive. I know that corn is a staple for most livestock, I decided to stick with other alternatives like wheat, oats, millet, and buckwheat. We already have a hand thresher and I seem to personally have better luck with grasses than corn.
NO it's a 1950s ranch neighborhood. Guy several doors down just concreted his whole backyard for a basketball court WITHOUT asking permission, and when the city said something, they just asked for forgiveness, saying they didn't know they had to ask.Whoot! Brand and model please?

So Penny is half pit half German shepherd, I'd never seen her really aggress at another dog so I didn't have a good feel of how she would behave if another dog pushed her too far. During one of our walks, a dog taller than her acted stiff-necked and growly. The dog was loose and had poor manners but a neighbor put it on a leash and pulled it away. (I asked them if it was theirs but they lied and said no) So this morning the same dog charged at us and when it hit the end of the rope it came free and closed with Penny and I. It had the same bad manners and was stiff-necked and tried to dominate Penny and the fight was on! I yelled at the owner who was walking slowly to us to hurry up and get the loose rope. But as scared as I was, it was just a simple mouth to mouth, threats, head shaking, noisy shoving and growling match and no one actually got bit. Penny didn't try to fight like a pit, she just matched the other dog's aggression without really trying it do damage. The owner pulled his dog off and apologized. I'll keep an eye on it, the dog looked much thinner than the last time I saw it and it's a shame, it's a beautiful animal when filled out.
You'd never win in this city.I'd tell them to pound sand. They can ticket me and we'd go to court. Their sense of what is attractive or not doesn't trump my right to feed my family.
How are you watering them? Roots follow the water. So I repotted some of my seeded starts last night. What I’m finding is that the starts are sending their tap roots straight down and out the bottom of the 6 packs and 4 packs I’m reusing to start my seeds in.
Do most of you start seeds in things with no holes in the bottom? I thought they would grow and put out more roots in the container before I needed to repot them.At this rate im going to run out of space very quickly !
