What did you do in the garden today?

I thought you guys might like this :p So most of our feed comes in the paper bags and we've collected a giant stack of them (as I want to use them in the garden) anyway my older brother got this genius idea to put them in the pine straw baler we made last year (which I think I showed some of you) and create paper bag bales so they take up very little room.

Sounds like a great way to keep them stacked up & out of the way. I was looking at Craigslist the other day and someone had pine straw rolls for sale. They weren't as big as regular hay rolls, but was a good idea to gather it up. Much easier than hand raking. Congrats on the new baby!

Only thing I've gotten done in my garden lately is putting down the cross ties to help keep the grass out of the garden. I need to finish putting down cardboard and leaves/straw so that it can sit over the winter & hopefully get rid of some of the bermuda grass for next year.

Friends just brought me a trailer load of leaves. We put them right into the garden, and within 10 minutes, Jack was escorting his girls into the garden to check out the fixin's. Sent friends home with some freshly killed lettuce from the greenhouse. Picking up more bagged leaves this afternoon, and hoping friend's neighbor calls me to come take his bagged leaves.

Pulled some mint, trimmed the extensive root system, put the bulk of it in the coop, and potted up some of the shorter root sections. They already had new sprouts on them, so hoping I'll have a good supply of fresh mint in the house this winter. Potted in a window box, so will add some parsley, and perhaps some chives, and a bit of lemon balm.

I need some advice please.
I am wondering what to do with my kiddie pool with my strawberries in it. I'm worried I might lose them over the winter. Any help is appreciated.
