What did you do in the garden today?

Well, friends, this is going to be a hard weekend. We will be shutting off the life support on my mom on Sunday. I've been strong this whole time but it's really hitting hard today. I know we all face this inevitability but it still sucks and hurts.

I've decided I'm going to build a nice heart-shaped raised flower bed for her. A pollinator garden. I'm also going to order this memorial and put it in the center.

I'm really sorry. That will be a beautiful memorial though.

I drove down to the store and bought a couple packets of bush bean seeds, Provider green beans and Cherokee Golden Wax. I planted beans all around the perimeter (3 sides) of the bed of winter squash I planted yesterday. East side, Provider. North side, Cherokee. West side, Rattlesnake climbers.

I also planted another row of the Rattlesnake beans directly across the path in the adjacent bed. My plan is to build an arbor over the path, connecting the two beds and create a "Bean Tunnel"! LOL.

I'll pick the beans I can easily reach to eat fresh, and leave the ones up high to mature as dry beans.

When I get some strength back I'm going to intersperse some of the bush bean seeds around my summer squash hills.

Still need to plant peppers in the one large space I have left in my garden. I'm just going to direct seed them right into the ground. If they grow, they grow.

I saw a few swallowtail butterflies in and around my garden. I was thinking about setting up a container of water for them, but learned that plain water isn't an attraction for them. They prefer "mud puddling". I'll set up a shallow container filled with dirt and organic matter near the garden and wet it down every day when I water the garden, and see what happens.

Are you saying you're not going today either because she's getting on your nerves? Isn't that what fishing is for? 🤣 To get away when life gets on your nerves?

My husband doesn't fish. He puts on big obvious headphones and that's when I know he doesn't want to talk. 🤣🎧 At least that's how I see them. It's also a freedom for me to make as much noise as I want because he can't hear me. This has backfired a handful of times when I was talking smack and didn't realize his headphones weren't on yet...but I digress, lol! Get some headphones and plug them into your phone to play a fishing game. Win win.
I went today now I have fish to clean. Not going on my annual trip this weekend. Not to worry I will be at my cabin in MN soon. I will get to fish.

I like the glass dish idea. More likely to trigger it while fussing with the dish.

I don't make kombucha right now. I use to make a lot of it. A gallon a day. But that was when I had a family of 6. I never second-fermented it though. That was before I knew about it. I bet it's good!!
Wire or tie bait to the trigger. Also a coon can destroy a trap or roll it over and get out. A rebar stake through the cage and driven into the ground to prevent rollover.
