What did you do in the garden today?

Definitely grape! Prepare for tons of them!
We have been here 2 years, and I haven't seen any fruits on them. They flowered last year, but nothing after that. I'm hopeful this year, especially since I decided to water them a couple of times. Getting them under control is going to be a project, though...

My cilantro is sprouting! We will see if I even needed to overseed as much as I did.

I thinned the carrots, purslane, and dill today. The carrot and purslane seedlings came inside to be eaten in some way (added some to my salad tonight), and some of the dill seedlings were moved over by the cabbage to hopefully keep the loopers at bay a bit. I also planted mustard, another row of Tom Thumb lettuce, Bull's Blood beets, and Shiraz Tall Top beets.

Only one watermelon seed sprouted, so I'll have to sow a couple more.

DW made carrots and greens from the garden with dinner today. It rained a little bit unexpectedly, just a drizzle. It was appreciated, but drove us inside this evening while working on the shed.
The shed build is progressing. The floor is done and the walls are framed. I need to box in the window openings just and put headers in over the doorways. Next I need to build the trusses and get them up on top. I'll be putting up sheathing soon enough.

I've planted plenty of watermelons, but somehow, they've failed to get the message TO GROW! We've had tons of rain, so they have plenty of water. I give them manure tea once in a while, so where are my watermelons???

so, got my last chilies outside, was too tired to plant them separate, but since the pot holds about 56 l of earth, they should be happy

my tomatoes are all outside too, planted some spearmint and basil in the pots to keep pests away, on the far right is a white eggplant, am really curious at how they will turn out

my potatoes are exploding, the tunnel sometimes gets blown off by the wind , and then the chickens are scratching like mad, but that only happened 2 times, I will be giving the chickens to a friend while I get my hip replacements done, it will be so strange having no chickens for the first time in 11 years :( on the other hand, the garden will flourish ( if my family doesn’t forget to water it 😬 ) when there are no longer chicken which will kill everything green in sight… I am a little bit sad cos I have 2 old hens which I fear won’t survive my absence, on the other hand I am relived cos I don’t have to do anything if they start feeling bad, which has been one of my greatest fear as a chicken keeper, that one of my seniors feels bad and I can’t kill them humanely 🙈 I can slaughter a young rooster ( I don’t like doing it, but will do it if it can’t be helped) I did once try it with a hen and totally botched the job 😢 I just „feel“ too much, am stressed out and don’t hit too hard, or my hand is shaking, whatever……

You most likely have a male vine and will not get fruit.

Good morning gardeners. We got close to a quarter inch of rain overnight. I'll take it. My legs were pretty much pain free when I got up this morning so I did the garden walk after I took care of the chickens. I'm glad I did. It appears the night visiting cats have been digging at the base of my pear tree. I covered it back up and put a stone where it had a been digging. Everything is growing well, although something is nibbling at the Lima bean leaves. I checked for bug eggs and didn't see any. I didn't see any slugs so I'm not quite sure. I may get more bug netting and see if that helps. It's too wet to try neem oil so Hopefully I can get the bug netting fast. I did pick some peonies. They are quite lovely. And I saw my very first pea pod of the season developing. The second planting of peas is also blooming now so I'm hoping for a good harvest. Your remark about thinning your carrots really threw me off guard @Swiss. I haven't done this at all this season. I felt really bad. Then I remembered I splurged and bought the seed tape carrots. LOL! No thinning necessary. That's why it costs so much extra.

There's really 3 blooms in this photo
