What did you do in the garden today?

This morning I planted 3 packs of "Mint and Cat Nip"". Sowed the mint in several small planters so when they get big enough we will transfer them around our hen houses to repel rodents. It is a little late in the season I know but my Goat poop soil please don't fail me now.
The Cat Nip on the other hand, is for Spikey. He has a way of looking at me and makes me feel bad of he is not getting his share of attention. At the end of each day after I'm tired and laying there pooped out, he is always hanging out with me and purring, rubbing his head on my limp body attempting to get me to pet him. Saying.. " my turn"!.. Good ole Spikey.. Gotta spread the love evenly, even thought your eyelids weigh 50 lbs and falling down..

Should have planted rice. I need to remember to stick a bar of soap in my pocket when I go out to garden. Yesterday, I got caught in such a down pour, that if only I'd had some soap, I could have taken a shower and done my laundry at the same time. By the time I got inside it had rained sideways through the windows. My bed was wet, the carpets were wet, the floor UNDER my bed was wet. The walls were wet....

Wish those of you with too much rain could send some to those of us with not enough. Just got back from a week's vacation, and with no rain, half of my plants and garden look as though they may be beyond saving. I think in the past 2-3 weeks we have been lucky to have gotten an inch of rain.

Between yesterday and today, I:
* Threw away some plants that were too far gone, and cut dead parts off of others in attempts to save them.
* Replanted seeds - squash, zucchini, cucumber, peas, watermelon and various perennial flowers.
* Finished my son's bean tee-pee by adding cardboard and cedar wood chips on the inside to give him a play area.
* Pulled up some lilies and Iris that have not been doing well.
* Planted 2 Top Hat Blueberry bushes into containers for the patio
* Worked on the landscaping by planting a hydrangea, some campanula, ferns, an azalea, some hostas, heuchera, astible, elderberry and daylilies.

I hope that your 4 new birds don't get attacked while they are roosting in the trees. Do they roost in the trees at night? Or do they go in at night?
no not going in at night started doing this like 4 nights ago so lured them in closed their door thinking maybe keeping them a few days
