What did you do in the garden today?

Yep, ...Brussels sprouts...
Thank you very much! I hadn't seen any of these things; they are very helpful. I found one website that said removing the lowest leaves as they turn yellow will help tighten up the sprouts (maybe it was also remove the lower leaves as the sprouts are harvested - I need to read it again)

I have two plants that were started in the spring.
And six plants that were started in late June or so and planted in the garden in early/mid July. They struggled a lot until the last week or two. I'm sure it was partly from the heat but also grasshoppers and cabbage worms.

Hopefully we will get something.

I ended up putting in onions and another green chili pepper and ground beef. It's so good and I added my zucchini from yesterday from the garden.

It’s not the canning process, unless something added is high in purine. The goal is to avoid foods high in purine, which impacts uric acid in the blood. My dad had gout. He still had a beer once in a while, ate steak and canned chicken and spam without issue. The key is to limit those things and drink lots of water. Lots of water to flush your system and keep your kidneys working well.
Thank you for replying! That is what I thought, but I was seeking clarification in case there really was a problem with canned meats. I was really hoping that they were okay to eat!
