What did you do in the garden today?

Ouch! I did that once years ago. My little toe caught the leg of a sofa as I walked by. It was bent out at a 90 degree angle! I pushed it back where it belonged and went to the Dr. and got an x-ray. He told me I did a great job resetting the bone!

I trimmed all the yellow lower leaves from my kale and Brussels sprout plants and gave them to the chickens a little while ago.
I fractured my big toe falling over the dog cos I couldn’t see him while carry a cookie sheet, I also righten it cos it was sticking out at a 90 degree angle, but it was shattered in the joint, so it didn’t really help, it was over 2 years ago and the toe can’t bend anymore 🙄 I say, elevation , elevation and ice every ten minutes , taking ibuprofen also helps some, I also had to wear a special boot for 8 weeks 😬

thank you. I live on another part of the planet and I am not sure if it is legal here to produce alcohol. I will search if there are some home kits but I have never heard of it. I like cold beer in hot summers and the price of good beer is pretty high. it was an idea to make it at home.
Beware, my father brewed nis own beer, but something wasn’t perfect, he always got headaches after consumption , the neighbors who taught him to brew beer ( they always did) also procured „headache“ beer..

I'm a fan of honey crisp apples. I know there are a ton of new varieties out there I'd probably love, but we haven't eaten apples in years (carbs hurt my stomach).

I broke my toes sooo many times having horses that I had a dedicated pair of shoes with the pinky toes cut out for relief after they stomped on them. LOL. Not fun.

Nothing happening here in the garden. We got 7in of rain last sun/mon. Looks like another one coming again sun/mon. I left the frost cover off the lettuce/spinach by accident & it froze so I think I'm done for the season with the greens. :hitNot bad harvesting to Dec though. The Christmas lights under the frost cover worked well.

I have an odd little EE that molted in Sept & hasn't laid eggs since. I added high protein food a couple/few weeks ago for the molters & she's since started up laying almost every day. Weird time to start laying, but I'll take it! I had to buy eggs the other day, I hate that.

Oh, I meant to say that my brother has a home brewery, he brews some pretty good beer. He also does some really good seltzer!

Whoo hoo !!! i found the big nutcracker!!

So, I picked walnuts off the driveway (I tried hulling them by driving over them)

Unfortunately, it was a pecan cracker not a walnut cracker. I didn't come anywhere near cracking one of the walnuts.

I like the driveway method better than hulling them by hand or by soaking them. Next time, I'll try spreading them further apart.

I have a get crackin and a Duke black walnut cracker. Both do a good job. Affordable under $100. The Duke takes a little bit of learning as I did not like it at first. Once you learn not to pull the lever all the way over it works great. Faster cracking and faster sorting - picking. A must is a wire cutter to crack the shell on the final picking.
