What did you do in the garden today?

This morning around 7:30 am, I was feeding animals and heard my dogs losing their minds. I came out of the chicken coop and peered around the corner. There was a police car in my driveway. I immediately headed up to the house to figure out what was going on. The officer saw me and walked over... He said there was a white chicken running around on the highway. While it hadn't been run over yet, it had flown into a moving vehicle. He was trying to find the owner to come get it. I told him I would check my flock but I didn't think it was ours. We have 5 white chickens (3 Leghorns, 2 Rhode Island Whites) and all were accounted for...

Poor bird.
Poor wee thing.

I don't trust PayPal; I think someone working there is using the Pay Pal data base to scam people. I deleted my card number when my card got compromised. I am pretty sure the charge in my checking account happened after I bought something with Pay Pal. My bank refunded my money and gave me a new card and the evil Law company that charged me for a subscription got flaged and blacklisted by my bank.

I am recently getting scam email saying I was charged by Pay Pal, but I know it's a scam because I deleted my old credit card from their website and did not input the new one.

I keep getting emails from pay pal although I have never used them. I just ignore them. there are also emails from walmart that I somehow won $$$$$$$$$$$ although there is no walmart in greece. my emal contains word wood so that confuses them about my location.

Saturdays temperatures will be in the single digits then climbing up to a balmy 17F. I’m looking forward to a slight thaw next week so I can rescue the table I use for seed planting. I used it when building the new chicken coop. I’m hoping to start onion seeds before the end of the month. Today is chicken supplies pick up from Tractor Supply. Then I’ll stop by Job Lots and check on their seed supplies. Still need a day to inventory my seed packets on hand.

Morning. Sitting at the rheumatologists office. Snowing out. Can't wait for the mini thaw next week!

My lettuces are popping up in the aerogarden, I need to remember to turn on the light today.

Still need to order a few seeds - probably just melon, I have everything else I think.

Just placed first seed order for 2024. I’m not used to seeing out of stocks - I usually order late Dec. but, some people snagged some good things before I ordered. Oh well - I have plenty of seeds anyway.

My order was for Baker Creek, all flowers, but I noticed they had the fiddle head cabbage (large up to 10 lb size) so I had to order 1 packet. My order comes with 2 free samples, wonder what I’ll get!

Placed my Burpee order. Not too big this year bc my needs were less. They have free shipping on seeds right now. AAAND B2G1 free on seed packets. Seeds really have gone up in price, it seems, at all places, so I was happy to get the discount.

Burpee seeds always have good germination for me, as good as or better than stated. Also, they offer hybrids that have helped me to be successful when a particular thing failed for me: cucumbers are a good example for my garden. But, I have 2 more places I’ll probably order from…I haven’t shopped the catalogues yet.

Hmmm..I should remember that I ordered 12 varieties of sweet potatoes too. lol, a fair amount of garden real estate will go to those.

I have so many seeds, I really don't need to order anything. If I can't direct sow it, I buy starts - I just don't have room to start seeds. I do need some wildflower seeds though, they worked out really well last year. I did order new bare root strawberries for spring a while back, I'm digging up the ones out there now & repurposing the 2 beds for melons on a cattle panel trellis. Strawberries will have their own greenstalk. As will onions, peppers & greens. Nothing is going to break my back this year!

I do want to try some edamame - I might need another greenstalk for that tho, lol.

I need to buy more insect netting though.

I would love to start my garden, but my 2. Hip replacement is coming up, probably around May, and that is the time if you have plants I should be there, replanting them and giving them lots of water ( we live in one of the driest area of Germany 🙄) so when I’m gone for 6 weeks, all my efforts will be for nothing 🤷🏻‍♀️ when I do come back, I won’t be very mobile, so… no garden for me this year 😬 last year, at least I got some tomatoes, berries and plums, my peaches rotted away cos the family was too lazy to pick and preserve them, same with the apples 😢

Third garden order with Gurneys. A few roses, a few tools. I had a replacement certificate to use and also they have their sort of 50% off sale (spend $100, get $50 off as an example as it’s not a straight 50% off, it goes by $25,$50,$100 increments). So, it was a good deal all around…except using that code meant I had to pay shipping.
