What did you do in the garden today?

I've dealt with PayPal, used to like them but then they changed their policies, and I deleted my account. I'm trying to remember the specifics, it might have been a clause stating they can deduct money from your bank account if they decide you owe them money. Lots of companies are doing that, take time read the policy updates.

I won't use PayPal even as a guest, they still want all your information. Nope. Fool me once, shame on you...fool me twice, shame on me.
They don't have my bank information, so they can't do it. Anyway, they shouldn't be charging anything without any card listed on their website.

My two black winter melon plants died when the sun came up after the rain. However, my Thai and Kajari melon right next to them wasn't affected and are still alive.

I have two more black winter melon seedling that sprouted a couple weeks ago, but they are growing really slow. They may not be suitable for my zone. I started adjusting my ph to 5.50 before watering them to see if they respond.

I'd gladly go out and get a new truck. But ATM, they aren't making anything I WANT.
Holy heck, have ya seen the price of trucks lately? We think, every once in a while, about replacing the ole 2006 RAM. Not happening - I want to retire some day relatively soon. :lau

I did not see seeds at TS either. A tiny bit early here I think.

I buy starts for some things too. I mean, a jalapeño is pretty much successful and easy to find…tomatoes, also easy. But, for the direct seeded, I buy seeds.

I enjoy edamame. Basically you grow until they are plump and pod filled out. You can wait until a pod or two per plant looks like it is crossing over to the drying out side (slight yellow on a pod or two) and pick then. Bc it’s a pick them all at once scenario, just chop the main stem at the ground and carry all plants to a shady are to remove pods. Give the plants and leaves to the chickens- they love them!! About 30 min later remove the denuded stem for the compost pile.
Exactly, starting seeds for tomatoes & peppers is not worth it to me. My sungolds reseed themselves, I buy onion starts too - other than that it's all direct sow. Beans I save seeds, squash I buy because you never know what weird cross you'll get, lol. & cukes are parthenocarpic so I buy seeds there too. Not much hassle.

I was thinking of buying some parthenocarpic squash seeds this year, maybe I'll order some now. I found a few names last year: Golden Glory, Cavili, Dunja, Multipik, Noche, Partenon. Anyone try any of those?

& thanks for the info on edamame - I'm excited to try it!

I bought Dunja to try this year.

My FIL wants a brand new truck with no "bells and whistles." Think 1980 basics such as manual roll up windows and A/C only. The dealer told him such a thing doesn't exist unless he special orders it and he'd pay more than just getting a "standard" truck (with all the electronics, back up cameras, Bluetooth, etc...). My FIL was so mad that he got up and walked out. Offended that they'd ask him to pay more $$$ to get rid of stuff.

I wish I could find a more basic truck too. All this technology is made to break, cannot handle the vibration of dirt road and real work, and is stupid expensive to fix, and owners can't DO IT!

I just took in my van that has auto-off feature. It turns off when sitting at a light, for example, then when you push on the gas to go, it restarts. Well, it uses a separate battery for this. I turn the stupid feature off 95% of the time as soon as I start the van. But, there is no way to actually disconnect it. So, I’ve just had that silly battery replaced again bc it dies. Last time it dies it left me stranded…but I was at home and couldn’t start the car bc of the auto off feature. Yea, had to take it to the mechanic to do this and he confirmed that it can’t be turned off permanently.
