What did you do in the garden today?

Pics from last summer of Boer resistant summer squash project. Survived with no Boers. Test crop did get Boers so Boers were present. Long to semi long vines. Saved seed from green one. Pollinated by yellow ones. I can share seed. Message me if interested.

Not at all and is quite tolerant of the cold. I had 4 plants last fall, and I harvested 2-quart freezer bags from that. It's just me and my husband, so when I use some it's usually only a cup or so. The leaves are edible, kind of like spinach. All in all, it is very low maintenance to grow, but harvesting the grain does take a little time. You have to dry the plant, then pop out all the grain (I just gently crush sections in my hand, and they come right out) soak in water for roughly 15 minutes to get the outer skin off (I put them in a bowl of water, when they sink they are done) skim all the fines and skins off the top of the water, place on a cookie sheet and pop in the oven on warm until dry, then freeze. Sounds like a lot but after the drying the whole process took me maybe 2 hours.

I plan to plant quinoa, amaranth and millet but I don't know when I can plant them. I guessed around march/april. I live in (likely) zone 9a.

Indoor dirt therapy! 😊

This Maranta was just a cutting last summer. It really liked living under the grow lights. I had to move it to a window to make room for seedlings. Hope it will stay happy. Like I need more houseplants.

That's beautiful. If it's not too much trouble could you send me a couple of seeds. I would love to see that in my house. I only have

I'm in 8b, I started mine when it was still smoking hot outside (it stays pretty toasty in Texas until October) and they did great.
