What did you do in the garden today?

I was reading the article when DH walked in and asked what I was reading. I tried to explain the whole train wreck to him. That lead to the next 10 minutes of him ranting about how people can't control bugs or wind and it's stupid that anyone would be able to sue you for a bug that "trespassed to pollinate your plants with stolen pollen..." 😂🙄

To be fair, just because a large following of small scale, home gardeners buy from Baker Creek, I don't think that puts them in the same category as "Big Ag' but then look at the article source and you can see why they are throwing shade.
The "tantrum" headline makes me less confident in the writer being unbiased.

Glad you heard them.
Are you having fires near you?
No, the states of Victoria and Tasmania are having some pretty serious fires.

The fires in Victoria's west sent large plumes of smoke into the air. (ABC News)

Residents in Victoria's west are enduring another anxious day, with an out-of-control fire bearing down on dozens of communities.

The blaze burning near the town of Beaufort, west of Ballarat, was sparked about 10am Thursday and steadily grew in intensity throughout the day.

Two emergency warnings remain in place for the blaze, urging residents in more than 30 communities to leave.

There is also a watch and act for communities to the north-east of the fire.

Lowes had Sunshine mix in bales. It has aggerate in it. Seemed sandy. I passed.
I used that Sunshine pro-mix brand from my local Lowes in my DYI earth box with a top line of Dr. Earth Organic Tomato fertilizer; and my Hoss tomato plants loved it, and they are producing a lot of tomatoes.

It's the best performing inert potting mix I have available in my area. By the way, I don't see any sand in it, it looks and feels like peat and perlite.

Smaller is fine for me, as they'd be pets. Friends have some turkeys, their Bourbon is huge but friendly, also in the pet category. He is so big & wants hugs...funny trying to wrap your arms around him, he leans into ya, like hey, I wanna real hug here. He is a character. He does not smell bad either, which is nice when hugging him lol. I need to visit them, get some updated pics. I'm sure he is even more humongous now.

if you need pet turkeys royal palms are perfect. I love my turkeys and probably will keep them for production only. I have 1 white female that is cross from a hybrid and bourbon that definitely is a pet. I am praying that she survives hot summer here. I have already got her 2 babies. they stay as well. now I need a huge coop for them, lol.

It's 'stupid hot pepper sauce' day, or as DH calls it -SuRacha.
9lbs of mostly super hots, the least hot ones are jalapenos & it goes up to the hottest you can grow. Please pray for me, I just put them on the stove. I was choking just washing the cutting board. :gig

We have had an unusually mild winter this year in northern Minnesota. Almost all our snow is gone. We normally don't see that until maybe early April.

This morning, I was outside raking up leaves into a pile that I intended to toss into the chicken run. But then I decided to fill up a large garbage can with a lid as storage and hang on to those leaves in case we get more snow. My chickens do not like to walk on white snow, so if we get the ground covered with fresh snow again this winter, I will just grab a few handfuls of leaves out of the garbage can storage and sprinkle them over the snow. My chickens don't mind walking on leaves even if there is a foot or two of snow underneath. They just will not walk on white snow.

Google picture of what I mean, just putting some leaves on top of the snow so the chickens will go outside and get some fresh air and sunshine (or at least natural daylight)...

Glad it's not you but sad for those that are nearby.

I get bagged leaves, straw bales and pumpkins after Halloween in town. Have to go through the leaves when I dumped them on the snow. Weird things from town.
