What did you do in the garden today?

Thanks folks, no worries I'm fine. I'm kinda old fashioned, I just wash well with soap and water, then soak it in peroxide for a while and slap a bandaid on it. I'm young, pretty healthy and I've had my shots. :D I get too many cuts to have treating each one with care be a priority. Most of them don't even get bandaids.
I get cuts all the time... Some I don't even notice until they're well scabbed over. While I was weeding the path yesterday I ended up with tiny scratches all up and down my arms. To be honest I might have kept working through this one if it hadn't started bleeding a good amount and realized it went deeper than I thought it had.

After treating it I went back out and kept staking up tomatoes, only to realize that I swiftly ran out of stakes. So I called up my sister (the one who I tomatoed with the other day) and offered to clear some of those big pesky downed branches out of her back lawn if she'd help me transport them back to my house in her car. She came over almost immediately and I now have some 20+ more 6' stakes to work with. Some are better than others but I'm grateful for every single one.
Every single branch and leaf on my property gets used around here. Nothing goes to waste. :p Sometimes I even "steal" bags of lawn waste from neighbors who put them out on the curb on trash night for their leaves and branches. We're always desperate for carbon on my property.

Ooh, yeah I hope her sale went well. :)

Chili for dinner tonight. It's been cold this week so making a soup-like-thing is a genuine option for once.

I am so mad at myself! I came home, put the dogs out, ate supper then went to check the guineas. IMG_20170726_1857142_rewind.jpg This was in the brooder! 4 guineas dead, 3 inside the snake and one laying on the brooder floor. I have only myself to blame. I chased it off yesterday. Had a thought, gee maybe I should put another latch on there. But thought it was pretty tight, no gaps visible.

So sorry for the loss. What kind of snake is it. My first inclination would have been to kill it, but... I suppose that relocating a non poisonous snake FAR, FAR, FAR away would be the better choice. Since they do hold a valid spot in the food chain. All we have here is garter snakes (plus the occasional water snake and grass snake), so I'm happy to find them in my yard.

Tonight, Hubby got the tiller going for me. I can't start it b/c the pull cord is finicky. So, I tilled a rough area of the lawn where we had a loam pile. We then raked it out, and it's nice and flat, weed free and ready for grass seed. Will have to put fencing up around it to keep the birds from turning it into a dust bath.

Raspberries ready to pick.

Ground hog keeps taunting me. I'm deciding that I have terrible aim. Not really a surprise, but a terrible disappointment. Hubby says he's going to buy me some self aiming shot gun shells. I need them desperately.

How can you miss with a shot gun?

Lazy, you've got groundhogs? Just get yerself a husky. :pView attachment 1091257
That's just a baby one... But she did take out two that size in a week and attacked mama (but it got away). Haven't seen any since.

She'd prolly eat the snake too... But maybe not. Snakes move funny.
My Standard Poodle used to kill every snake she saw. My Shepherd just likes to catch things and sniff. Them. She is one big nose with legs.

 I seriously have no idea! And hubby just shakes his head in dismay. I think the SG is defective. It really couldn't be me that has a problem! I am left eye dominant, and right hand dominant, I can't close one eye, so... I think that when I'm aiming, that I'm totally off target. He's going to set up a target for me this weekend, or perhaps some evening, and see if he can help me trouble shoot my aiming problem (pun intended). He even bought me a Jr. sized SG to help with my issue. I did take down 2 GH with the old SG, but, so far am at 0% with this SG. Will spend some time working with a pellet gun, or a .22, and see if I can figure out what my issue is. He did take down a nasty sick coon full of porcupine quills with this SG, so... I know that the shells go where he wants them to go!!
