What did you do in the garden today?

I buried dud pigeon eggs one year. Literally the next morning I look out there & couldn't believe it...some critter dug up every single one & left huge craters! Whatever I planted was either laying there to the side or just gone. I do not bury eggs, I will use egg shells but no whole eggs ever again. It drew Raccoons & Opossums for weeks afterwards, too.

Some other critter digs up my pepper plants. I haven't figured out who...but even when I replanted the peppers into pots, they were dug up by morning. Only the peppers, too. It's a real mystery...who does that? 🤔
We have a problem w raccoons digging up dead animals. We even put lye on them and it doesn’t seem to deter them .

I had that happen with a parrot I buried for my mom.

But when I harvest birds they don't seem to bother the blood under the cone. But if I pour it in the garden they dig....Weird

A bit of a rant. I find it increasingly difficult to find a pork sausage that is not loaded with hot pepper. Always plenty of medium and hot. The original and mild are always sold out. I cannot eat hot spicey foods. I have fissures in my tongue that makes me feel the burn more than most people. The fact that what I want is always sold out tells me I am not the only one that likes original.
I'm with you, I can't tolerate hot peppers. I started eating a chicken sandwich from a breakfast restaurant, and felt my throat close up before I even felt the burn. There was nothing in the description to indicate it was hot or Cajun. It has to be something in the peppers, because I can eat kimchee or horseradish.

Saw this working in the yard yesterday. I did not see a variegated one yet. It's a weed so I know it's coming.
Pretty blue flowers and there is my finger. 😆

That is weird. I wonder if they are watching and know there is nothing but blood under the cone, garden - not sure.
I know they watch us 😞

Yeah at first I had the cones next to a hollow maple and the creek they used. Pool of blood sat there until the rain washed it away. So I put a bucket with a cup of water under the cone and dumped in the garden. Next morning it was dug up .
It was too far to carry birds back and forth so I moved the cones up by the house... and they haven't bothered it, but the chickens do pick the coagulated blood so not much is left.

ETA and I have traps by the garbage can 30ft away on the other side of the house I catch predators in regularly.
