What did you do in the garden today?

Our HIGH today was -1. Sigh. We'll be -20 with a chill of -40 by morning, and next Wednesday 58. LOL.
I swear.
The alpacas can go out, but refuse to.
The hens are being kicked out Saturday, maybe Sunday to go back to the coop.
I cannot wait to get my winter gear into the wash and dry. I'm not a fan of smelling of barn and diesel ALL the time.
I would have to wash my clothes or throw them away because I don't do the smell of diesel. My husband isn't bothered by it but when I smell it on him I tell him to go take a shower because he stinks.

I'm ok with diesel, the smell of two stage oil exhaust makes me physically ill and ragey. It's wild.

I understand... I was born in California. Thankfully my mom moved me to the Midwest as a baby so I didn't really grow up there. However my dad, 2 siblings, and other relatives live(d) there. My 2 siblings and cousins still do... California was an incredible place 30 - 40 years ago or more. Now I wouldn't live there if you paid me. I don't even like visiting anymore. It's just gone so far off the tracks.
My sister went to CA in the later 70s, after college and loved it. She lived there for years (in the greater LA area, always coastal side), left for MI due to a job, but tried to get back to CA for years. She went back somewhere around early 2000s, and I’d visit sometimes. The weather is amazing…practically perfect! That’s one if the best things I can say. She hightailed it out of there when her last kid graduated high school -condo sold, I think a week before her kid graduated, she couldn’t wait. Moved to a rural area of VA - completely different than Los Angeles.

Baby chicks!! Drove to pick them up today!

I'm wondering if anyone uses the watering grids to make raised bed watering easier. I just read an article about it and I think it's something that I'm going to try this year.
I think they are ridiculously expensive for what they are. I plan to DIY a water g system for my raised beds.
