What did you do in the garden today?

This is an update on the onion that I placed in a glass cup filled with water. I didn't change the water and forgot about them. The water turned clear tan and was not murky. The top part around the edges of the onion dried up and I could see a new green leaf just starting to come out the middle. However, roots didn't grow out of the bottom, so I decided to place it in some potting soil before giving up on it.

I have gotten some yellow onions to put out some green onions but I haven't ever put them in soil. I like putting some food scraps in water just for the convenience of having some fresh food on hand and no need to go to the store.

I can tell you that a cheap bag of frozen peas from walmart is a good investment. I get the 2 lb bag and while I usually defrost them, my whole flock likes them frozen in summer when it’s hot. This is the key my relationship with my ducks :gig
I will have to get some stuff for them. For now I'm dealing with waking up with tension/sinuses almost every morning.

G’morning everyone. I did all the liquid fertilizer application today and will put down dry tomorrow because it’s already toasty in the sun. Crazy broody came out to eat so I took her eggs. I did manage to finish getting my pantry cleaned up earlier and this afternoon I want to vacuum and mop the floors. Daughter brought home dinner for the boys so I won’t have to cook, huge plus. Here’s a few pics, have a great day all.

I cleaned up another raised bed to get it ready for planting. I removed the maple leaves and compost, and made a new compost pile with them. I layered them with poopy chicken run bedding and old grass clippings. Still need to water the pile down.

I'll stick my black seeded Simpson leaf lettuce and watercress starts in the ground today.

I have 6 jalapeno pepper plants from seeds I bought and they're all around 6 inches tall. Then there are the three habanero plants from seeds I saved from a single habanero pepper I bought (for 17 cents, I think) when I was making salsa last summer. And three Hatch chili pepper plants from saved seeds, one being small because I had to replant to get a third plant.

It's strange that the habanero plants are all so short, maybe 3 inches tall. And they already have side branches forming so I won't top them. I wonder if that's typical of habaneros? To have lots of branching going on.

Habanero peppers... (tall jalapeno behind them)

Six jalapenos on left, three habaneros, and the three Hatch chilis, from store bought pepper seeds.

My Habaneros I've grown in the past do not need topping. They already have a shorter bushy growth structure. My Tabasco peppers as well.
