What did you do in the garden today?

I just ordered two different types of Armenian cucumbers from amazon, the stripe type and the pale green type. I decided to try them, since they can survive in hot climates. I had to put up a shade cloth to keep my Japanese cucumbers alive. I lost one out of three due to sun stroke.

I am looking forward to tasting them. I wonder why they aren't being sold in the supermarket.

Ugh... It's so hot already. A sweltering 85 degrees already and we aren't even to the hottest part of the afternoon yet.

I got my sweet corn in the ground. Still have to put down mulch between the rows though. I'll do that tomorrow morning when it's cooler.

I also managed to get my new gooseberries planted and seeded some zinnias & butterfly peas. We are getting closer to "done planting"!! 👏 This time of year is always filled with so much promise... 😁 Here's to hoping the season isn't a dud! 🍻

I have found variety of potatoes that are sold in the stores, produce about 5x the amount compared to special potatoes I grow.
The black raspberry I grow have a very short shelf life compared to the commercial.
So I would think it would be something like that

I had work today so not much time for the garden. Checked on seed starts before work then after work spent a nice hour sitting in the sun in the portable greenhouse with our baby chicks and very old bearded dragon so they could get some sun. It was plenty warm in there at least 20 degrees warmer than outside. This weekend I should be able to plant out cold crops, finally. Long winter here this year.

It's fun to try new things. So many things we can grow are not typically in the grocery stores. Every year we try to grow a few new to us varieties.
