What did you do in the garden today?

Another 70' day with winds over 40. Dry as a bone.
Hummingbird fountain is up and running. I'm sure I'll have at least 2 days of running out there in the evening to protect it from frost. Picked up some sale annuals for the plant tower on sale at the grocery. 1.50$
The parking lot plant places are already here and selling. 6$ for a 4 pack of annuals and 8 and up for perenials. Insane.

Something large, betting raccoon is raiding the barn feed bins. Trap is set.

As are the peonies that I thought died last year....

Even my 2 yr old purple broccoli is getting in on the bloom

And a 2 yr old carrot won't be left behind either....

On top of these, my roses, lilac, lavender, and irises are also blooming! 🤩👏🤩👏🤩

I mailed in the soil samples for my soil test. Packet said the results could take 4 weeks. That's ok; I mostly want to help the tomatoes not have BER (blossom end rot), and I have some ideas on that already. But I've never had the soil tested, so I thought I'd finally do it.

Lot of sprouts in the green house now! :)

Tomorrow will probably NOT be a garden day: cold and rainy. Wednesday is supposed to be sunny again. I'll be prepping the potato bed then, I think.

Are you going to save seeds from the purple broccoli?

I got my saddest garden bed amended with compost and sulfur today. Gave it a dose of the nematode soil drench. It's the last bed that has root knot nematodes. Hopefully I'm finished with it this year and only have to do a seasonal treatment from now on.

Compost came from the chicken run! My first year being able to pull from it.

Tomorrow I will plant stuff. Not sure what yet. Probably zucchini. Maybe popcorn.

Got my seedlings off of the ground. I'll be selling the excess in the coming weeks. All of these are extras.

Except the two on the ground. Those are herbs and flowers.
