luckily the only plant-eaters here are chooks and snails and other bugs. i don't know whether 'varmints' would eat salvias.probably by that varmint that ate my garden or possibly by deer.

Ugh, there was a squirrel out on our deck today, i guess the hickory nuts are irresistible. We have seen very few since we moved to this state.
Nice haul! Do you have a specific perennial bed you're going to put them all in, or are you spreading them out throughout the yard? Did you ever figure out what is eating all your plants? That must be so frustrating!Nice! I have been trying to get some cheap perennials at the garden center clearance areas. I got some phlox, coral bells, day lillies, hosta, black eyed Susans, Echinacea, and a couple others i can't recall right now. The last two have been chewed to bits, probably by that varmint that ate my garden or possibly by deer. None of them care how close they are to the house!
Uh oh - sounds like an animal version of "The Birds" (Alfred Hitchcock).Living in a hardwood forest, we are overrun with squirrels. Our home is a log cabin and they are sytematically eating it. I hear them at the crack of dawn gnawing on the porch posts and railings trying to wear down their teeth. We have some nice iron skillets and I may have to look in my LL Bean cookbook for squirrel recipes.
I have a huge area in front of the house inside the circular driveway where the bushes and flowers are going. There are separate areas around 3 trees. The areas in between them will eventually get some veggies, maybe after i fence it in.Nice haul!
