What did you do in the garden today?

I was referring to heat in the compost pile killing seed . Then again the pile never heats evenly . Just the center .

To be honest....over 90% of my compost is comprised of weeds....and yes...I get quite a few sprouts but the benefits of the compost greatly outweigh the nuisance of a few weeds....and if you mulch....(I know...it's like flossing....we all know we should do it...but sometimes forget) ....the weeds aren't that big of a problem...

I only have one tooth left...so...don't have to floss anymore anyway....

Yesterday my boss told me that he found out someone was in the same situation I'm in and had lost most of his teeth due to radiation...and they just ground down the higher spots and made dentures and the stumps actually help hold the dentures in place...

I am going to visit a dentist very soon to explore that possibility....what a blessing it would be to eat tacos, pizza, chips, and real nachos again!

I try to keep up on the weeding so I get the plants into the compost before they go to seed.

It feels mighty hot here, I think a lot because of the humidity...
The day time temperatures here in the "temperate" North West have been in the mid 90's all week and expected to be 88-102 degrees for at least the next 2 weeks. Zero humidity and no rain expected in the foreseeable future either.

I have been harvesting strawberries, blueberries, marionberries and brans in the evening. My peas are looking pretty sad and the spinach is already bolting. The chickens are eating watermelon or wading in their kiddie pool or hiding under a bush.

We're getting some sort of break in the weather, and boy! is it welcome! I just harvested some pak choi and yakatta-na (I think). We'll see what happens when I stir-fry them.

My compost bin is just another place to grow things. Was going to actually buy a load of composted mulch this week.

Lot of rain this week- work has been minimal. We picked a bunch of Okra- Spotted beans- Crook necks and Tomatoes of all types. Supper from the garden tonight, fried Okra and CN's sliced tomatoes.

I really should floss!
Hope you get some great new teeth.
