What did you do in the garden today?

My maters have blight, so spent the evening trimming off affected fronds....probably spread it even further while doing so. Time will tell what happens there.

I was going to trellis some pumpkin and squash vines but when I moved one to get it ready to place a trellis, I noted it had several feeder roots down all along the vine that I had inadvertently torn up. I'm thinking those are pretty important and could be more so if the weather gets dry, so I'm going to leave those vines along the ground for a ways before I place them up the trellis. That should give them several places along the vine to mine for nutrients and moisture while still allowing the vine to travel upward if it likes.

We had a very hard drenching rain a few days ago...and my cucumbers just withered away. :( Don't know if there's any connection. Lost a couple tomatoes too with that droopy leaf thing and then gone.

Nice little bunch of goodies from the garden today. Finally getting some ripe or at least close to ripe tomatoes. :D

Black Krim are by far my favorite heirloom tomato. They are always ugly and always crack but the taste is over the top. Computer mouse for size reference.

We harvested the last bell and jalapeno peppers of the season. They're all chopped and in the freezer. Debating on planting seeds for a fall crop this weekend. Would be nice for a second batch of peppers and tomatoes. Florida fall gardens are a weird animal with high heat and humidity plus shortening days.

Planning for January's garden. :)
